Meaning of Junub

The person on whom ghusl janabat transforms into Wajib is referred to as junub. Janabat is a ceremonial impurity caused by the discharge of semen or by sexual intercourse. Allah declares in the Holy Qur'an, "O you who believe! When you are junub up, stay away from holy rituals (Salah) until you have properly cleansed yourself. 4:43 in Surah Nisaa of the Holy Qur'an

The Reasons for Ghusl Janabat for Muslims

Muslims must do Janaba if they are junub, and they are two basic reasons for Janabat:

• Semen Release

Janaba is required after the discharge of semen, regardless of whether the release occurred while the individual was awake or unconscious, in a dream or while unconscious, in a little or large amount, on purpose or accidentally, or in a method that was legal or criminal (such as masturbation). If a liquid comes out and the man cannot determine if it is ejaculate or not, he should take into account the following three key symptoms.

o Let go with a desire

o Release Spurting

o Following the Release, feeling at comfortable

If he discovered all three of these things at once, the liquid is semen; otherwise, it is not. If a woman releases the emission, it is obligatory for her to go through the ghusl procedure to rid herself of janabat if the emission was accompanied by an amorous desire and she felt at peace after it. However, ghusl is not required of woman if the discharge occurs without any romantic desire or agreeable aftertaste. And for her, this is not najis.

• Sexual Contact

No matter if the sexual activity was legal or unlawful, with the discharge of semen or without, you must undertake the janaba ritual before engaging in any religious activity. Islamic Sharia defines sexual intercourse as the entry of the glans into the female partner's vagina. It denotes that ghusl is obligatory on woman, regardless of whether complete penetration or semen discharge occurs. In the event of sexual contact, ghusl janabat will be mandatory for both the male and female.

In the Holy Quran, Allah declares, "O ye who believe!... Nor (are you permitted to pass in the Masjid) if ye are junub until ye have purified yeself, yea, yea" (4:43 in Surah E Nisaa)
